The Zekkei Hanabi Executive Committee has announced that the “Tezutsu Hanabi,” regarded as Japan’s oldest traditional fireworks and originating at Yoshida Shrine (Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture), will be featured as a special performance in the fireworks entertainment event “The ZEKKEI Fireworks ‘Mt. Fuji’ 2025: World Fireworks Expo!” This event will bring together the finest pyrotechnicians from Japan and around the world to deliver the ultimate fireworks viewing experience within the grounds of World Heritage Site Mt. Fuji.
It will be the first time that “Tezutsu Hanabi” has ever been performed at a World Heritage Site.
The “Tezutsu Hanabi” is Japan’s oldest form of fireworks, dating back to the Warring States period.
It features brave and dynamic performances in which the pyrotechnicians pack gunpowder into bamboo cylinders, hold them directly in their hands to ignite them, and shoot out towering columns of fire that culminate in a powerful explosion.
