Brain Sleep, Inc. and research team led by Dr. Seiji Nishino (Brain Sleep, Chief Research Advisor), Professor of Psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine and Director of the Sleep and Biological Rhythms Laboratory at the same university, conducted an online survey of approximately 10,000 employed people (assigned by sex, age and prefecture) in 47 prefectures in Japan in January 2021. The results of the online survey were analyzed to investigate the relationship between sleep status and new coronavirus infection (“COVID-19”).

The results showed that the inhibition rate of sleep apnea syndrome (“SAS”) was 13.1 times higher in COVID-19-infected patients than in non-infected patients, and the risk of COVID-19 inhibition was 16.6 times higher in patients with a history of SAS inhibition.
