BrainSleep Inc. presented the results of a joint analysis with the Stanford Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology (SCNL) on “The Impact of Commuting and Remote Work on Sleep and Daytime Productivity” at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Sleep Research, held at Hiroshima University on June 28–29, 2025.
While the relationship between commuting time and sleep duration has been noted in the past, this study revealed that commuting affects not only the “quantity” of sleep, but also its “quality” and overall daytime condition. Japan, known for having some of the longest commuting times among OECD countries, may face significant challenges in sleep health and productivity as a result of extended commutes.
